With the illustrated bookplate of the Sondley Reference Library. Dickens edited the memoirs of the famous clown Grimaldi (1779-1837) with some reluctance, and ended up dictating the revisions to his father. Perhaps a later issue, with the last plate in the book ("The Last Song") having no border; but the numerical error in the list of "Embellishments" (128 for 182) has been corrected. Condition Report: Some soiling and rubbing to boards with some loss to calf at corners; library blindstamp to preliminary pages, scattered foxing; about very good.
