The Earl of Caithness was Lord-in-Waiting to Queen Victoria and a founding member of the Amateur Photographic Association. He exhibited photographs of Windsor Forest at the International Exhibition of 1862, some of which probably feature in this book. William Bembridge was a Windsor-born photographer who frequently undertook commissions for the Queen including organising her private negatives.
