Mexican Traditional Maque Lacquered Blanket Chest

A striking antique, casket shaped, circa early 20th Century Mexican laca or maque lacquered hand made blanket or hope chest. Profusely hand decorated in a primitive, naive, folk art style with luscious floral designs, two pink birds and one dark brown bird to the outer lid, and one large central bird of prey to the inner lid. Artist signed to outer lid. Presented in a separate fitted gesso base stand. Vintage condition with age and use related wear throughout. Measures 30 1/2 in. x 34 1/2 in. x 18 1/2 in.
