Republic gold 8 Escudos 1861/50 Go-PF MS60 NGC, Guanajuato mint, KM383.7, cf. Onza-1971 (stated as 1861/60). An intriguing overdate, which, while simply noted as 1861/0 by the Standard Catalog and 1861/60 in La Onza, clearly shows the outline of a digit 5 beneath the 6 in the date. Although likely bound in its grade by scattered wisps over the obverse, it displays a remarkable clarity to the usually weak hand over book design, while the surrounding fields capture strongly Prooflike appearances graced with ample die polish.
