[ translate ]

**Originally Listed At $350**

Pre-Columbian, Guerrero, Mexico, Mezcala culture, ca. 700 BCE to 650 CE. Three carved stone earspools, two from a greenstone of beautiful sage hues with white inclusions and one from a pale grey stone. Ear spools like these are often shown adorning lords and shamans in Pre-Columbian art, usually with a bead or serpent emerging from that central hollow plug; scholars have interpreted this to be a symbolic supernatural passageway through which the breath of the soul travels. Also a greenstone round mace head with a wide drilled socket. Size of largest (mace head): 2.75" W x 1.5" H (7 cm x 3.8 cm)

Provenance: ex-Hilja K. Herfurth collection, Denver, Colorado, USA, collected in the 1970's

All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.

A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany all winning bids.

We ship worldwide to most countries and handle all shipping in-house for your convenience.

#147259
Condition Report: Mace head and one of the ear spools have some small chips from their peripheries and openings. Old collection numbers handwritten in black ink on the other two ear spools. Light deposits on surfaces of all.
