The self-lacing feature was purely a product of science fiction when the film was released in 1989. However, in the years since, Nike has turned this cinematic concept into a reality. In 2015, Nike released a limited edition of the Nike MAGs with actual self-lacing technology, fulfilling the dreams of many fans who wanted to own a piece of the future as depicted in the movie.
