Michael Mazur (American, 1935–2009) was a New York-born painter and printmaker known for psychologically charged figurative imagery, interior scenes, and expressive works on paper. Educated at Amherst College and Yale, Mazur became especially recognized for his printmaking, from his early hospital/ward imagery of the 1960s to later projects inspired by Dante’s Inferno. His work is held in major collections including the Museum of Modern Art, the National Gallery of Art, the Norton Simon Museum, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.

Studio Views II is a 1968 lithograph in black on Copperplate Deluxe wove paper, published by Tamarind Lithography Workshop, Los Angeles, and printed by Robert Rogers. Back of sheet signed in pencil Mazur, inscribed Tam Imp., with Tamarind and Robert Rogers blindstamps/chops, and pencil notation 2324A / Copperplate Deluxe. Other impressions of Studio Views II are held by the National Gallery of Art, the Museum of Modern Art, and the Norton Simon Museum. Sheet measures approximately 13 x 13 inches. Condition shows light toning and handling wear, old hinge/tape remnants on the back upper corners and right edge, and pencil inventory markings on the verso. Image presents well. Provenance of Martin and Enid Gleich.
