' followed by 'Sim. Vouet pinxit cum privil Reg. 1644 Mich Dorigny scul. ' Print made by: Michel Dorigny After: Simon Vouet Reference: Robert-Dumesnil 1835-71 / Le Peintre-Graveur Français (IV. 288. 98) IFF / Inventaire du Fonds Français: Bibliothèque Nationale, Département des Estampes (98) Simon Vouet (1590-1649) Painter and etcher. In Italy 1611-27. . Father-in-law of Michel Dorigny. Michel Dorigny (1616-1665) Engraver and later painter. Son-in-law of Vouet, whose daughter he married in 1648, and father of Nicolas. Outstanding work. Excellent impression with several little scratches in the plate still visible. On fine quality watermarked laid paper (bunch of grapes) . Trimmed on plate border. Hand painted number in sepia ink in bottom right corner. On plate border: 287 x 204 mm. With left corners tipped on a nice watermarked laid paper with hand painted frame around the print. Sheet: 410 x 310 mm. With a painted frame hand drawn frame.
