Important work (only canvas 130 - 148 cm) to be traced back to a follower of Michele Desubleo, known as Michele Fiammingo (Maubeuge, 1601 - Parma, 1676) , depicting the Old Testament episode of "Rebecca at the well". The stylistic characteristics (even in the physiognomic characterization of the faces) that link this important work of considerable size to the production of the great master Desubleo (Cf. in particular, the "Atalanta and Meleager" of the Civic Museum of Modena or the canvas with "Rape of Europe" proposed by CHRISTIE'S at auction 17467, lot 257 (estimate $ 60,000 - 80,000) . The painting is in good condition, it is already relined with some small drops of color and surface scratches, plastering and reversible pictorial restoration. The work is inserted in an ancient, molded and gilded wooden frame. The frame shown in the photos above was added to the work of art by the seller or a third party. It is supplied at no additional cost so that the work is ready for display as soon as it arrives. The frame is included as a courtesy and is not considered an integral part of the work of art. Therefore, any potential damage to the frame that does not affect the work of art itself will not be accepted as a valid reason for opening a complaint or requesting the cancellation of the order.
