Michiel Martens and Jetske Visser - Martens-Visser - Wall sculpture - Cosmic View

This mirroring sculpture was designed as part of an installation for Singer Laren museum. With the shape of a open torus, it double reflects its surroundings. The object is hand made and consists of multiple aluminium mirror pieces bended and connected to each other by hundreds of tiny rivet pins. "Math is a constant in our world, sometimes incomprehensibly large, abstract and at the same time very applicable and found in the smallest life on earth. In cosmic view the surface is investigated, an evolution from the two-dimensional to a volume. A mix of abstractions and visualizations from the world of logic, the beauty of math that exist around us. " During the design process we create many prototypes. These prototypes finally lead to a final design but are very interesting and unique pieces on themselves. We have decided to open up our archive and share some of our prototypes with you.
