Microcline var. Amazonite & Quartz var. Smoky Jack...
Microcline var. Amazonite & Quartz var. Smoky Jack Rabbit Mine, Lake George, Teller Co., Colorado, USA "Mostly one blue amazonite crystal growing with wome [sic] tapered crystals of smoky quartz. Collected with Bob Bartsch during the summer of 1983 and I got the specimen as well as 11 others when he willed me his collection after his death. The scale under the specimen is an inch with a rule at one cm." - Rock H. Currier Smoky Quartz often accompanies Amazonite in this part of Colorado. That's the good news. That most of it is broken by 'pocket collapse' is the bad news. So, this combination specimen is one of the fortunate few that survived, and at almost 7" in height: one of the larger examples. The Smoky Quartz has a long tapering form and deep black coloration - very diagnostic of material from the region. Overall Measurements: 6.9 x 3.9 x 3.7 inches (17.5 x 10.0 x 9.5 cm) Offered at no reserve Provenance: Collected by Bob Bartsch in 1983 [RHC #9154, acquired 2015] MinID 513-HDH [Scale: 1 inch, with mark at 1 cm]
