Microplas- "Mistral" MKII Triumph TR4 - ASI Oro - 1965
This very rare Microplas Mistral MKII was built in the USA in 1965 using mechanics from Triumph TR4 and MKII bodywork produced by Microplas in England.
. This body was very light and supplied in 6 parts to be shipped easily. It was intended for drivers who wanted to lighten their cars for competitions thanks to a body weighing only 30 kg! In the 1966 movie “Spinout”, Elvis Presley had one too.
. This specimen was imported in the 1980s to England and remained in the garage for many years. It was completely restored in 2016-2018 respecting the originality and accessories for competitions. The “nut and bolt” restoration was performed by disassembling the frame to bare (with photographic documentation) .
. The engine is completely new with Kent Cams camshaft, Dellorto carburettors, oversized valves, reinforced cylinder head gaskets, Derrington aluminium collector, 4-in-1 stainless steel exhaust, custom-built enhanced radiator, spoke rims, electronic distributor and much more.
. The gearbox has been completely overhauled, as well as the differential; the entire braking system has been restored and adapted to the lightened size of the car; the racing pedals feature a low attachment and a steering wheel “snap off” has been also fitted to facilitate entrance and exit. All suspensions were restored and wheels were aligned. The car has driven about 1000 km since restoration.
. The TR4 version mounts front disc brakes, improved gearbox and rack steering box, contrary to the previous “worm screw” on the TR2 and TR3A, for a better road grip suitable for professional or amateur competitions on tracks, hill or fast road.
. The car has been approved with TARGA ORO (Golden Plate) and can be registered in Italian and international competitions dedicated to this type of cars.
. Technical inspection valid until May 2021.
. The sport history in the USA in unknown.
. This version was designed without doors.
. Bidders are welcome to view and test the vehicle; it is located in 51039 Quarrata, PT, Italy. Please send a message to Catawiki for an appointment.
. Documents in order for transfer of ownership or export.
. We take care of change of ownership remotely or export documents, shipping throughout Italy, Europe and worldwide at convenient prices.
