Middle Eastern Flint Lock Musket

Highly Ornate Middle Eastern (Turkish) Flint Lock Musket. The octagon barrel measures 57-1/2'' with a raised fixed rear sight and feather engraved brass front sight. The barrel is held by five embossed silver bands and 17'' forearm under barrel silver wrap. The entire forearm is inlaid with lightly engraved mother-of-pearl in a geometric pattern held with brass pins. The lock is inlaid with brass feathers and boarder engraved hammer with round engraved trigger. The butt stock is made of dark walnut and ends with a 3-3/4'' piece of light colored wood with brass inlay. The barrel and lock have a dark patina with round ram rod. A few (9) pieces of mother-of-pearl inlay are missing. The rear sling buckle is intact where the forward loop is missing. In overall very good condition, exhibiting a very high grade of detail and embellishment. Provenance: Estate of William Kranker, collector and dealer, Greenport, NY.
