Condition Report:
Case: The case has visible surface wear throughout. Nicks throughout the case that have been rubbed over by a light polish but still visible. The numbers on the case back are visible. The bracelet with surface wear and scuffing throughout commensurate with age.

Dial: The dial is in overall good condition with signs of wear commensurate with age. Light dark spotting and dust throughout.

Movement: Please note that our watchmaker has indicated that the watch cannot be opened without damaging the watch. The movement is running at time of cataloging, however it was not tested for the accuracy of time or duration of the power reserve and may need service at the buyer's discretion. Please note that Sotheby's does not guarantee the future working of the movement.

Catalogue Note:
The Mido Ocean Star Ref 5907 was part of the Ocean Star Series made between 1961 and 1965. Also known also as the “Rainbow Diver” and “Powerwind 1000”, the Mido ref 5907 carries a colorful “exotic” dial, with bright concentric rings highlighting decompression times for depths down to 149 feet. The dial was designed to prevent confusion during dives, with each concentric circle representing the decompression period necessary. The dial is completed by a black outer edge of where depths are shown at 12 o’clock, and a white center circle. Inside the white center concentric circle are numerals 3, 6, 9 and 12, with the applied “Mido” emblem just below the 12.
