Millard Fillmore PSA Slabbed CDV After Brady, Among Finest Known!
Signed photograph

A portrait carte de visite after Mathew Brady depicting former President Millard Fillmore seated in an arm charm. 1p, measuring 2.5" x 4", [New York, NY], ca. 1862. Boldly signed along the blank bottom margin, "Millard Fillmore/ March 22, 1862", and marked in the negative with Brady's copyright. Bearing the backstamp of publisher Edward Anthony on verso, who was printing from Brady's original negative. Expected age toning and light edge wear throughout. Intermittent soiling on verso with faint mounting traces. Overall, very well preserved featuring wide and even margins. Encapsulated by PSA/DNA to an overall size of 4.25" x 7.25" and verified authentic, but would likely grade a 9 or 10 if resubmitted.

Fillmore signed cartes de visite are exceptionally rare, with only a very few examples maybe 3 or 4 - well below a handful - being offered recently at auction. A similar quality one sold in 2008 for $19,200 at auction. Most of these Fillmore signed photographs were autographed by the ex-President either during the Civil War period or immediately after the Civil War, as our example also illustrates.

This item comes with a Certificate from John Reznikoff, a premier authenticator for both major 3rd party authentication services, PSA and JSA (James Spence Authentications), as well as numerous auction houses.
