Millerite Gap Mine, Bart Township, Lancaster Co., Pennsylvania, USA "A cluster of "terminated" intergrown hemispheres of millerite the largest of which is about an inch in diameter. Traded from Bryn Mawr with Harold Arndt. From the George Vaux collection." - Rock H. Currier Millerite: a Nickel Sulfide mineral that is fairly uncommon in collections and when it is encountered, it is usually as hair-like needles inside of cavities in the host rock. Here a number of spherical crystal groups are conjoined into a dark, metallic cluster. Probably from a mine in the Gap area, most likely the Gap Nickel mine. An unusually hearty Millerite specimen to say the least, it has a custom acrylic base and the original Vaux labels. Overall Measurements: 1.4 x 2.0 x 0.5 inches (3.6 x 5.0 x 1.3 cm) Offered at no reserve Provenance: Ex. Bryn Mawr College, Ex.
