Mimmo Rotella was born in Calabria in 1918. As a young man he moved to Rome, where he made friends with avant-garde society. There is even a record of his phonetic poems. Rotella studied in the United States, where he later taught at Harvard University. In 1954, he presented the first torn poster he painted on to a voiceless audience. Since then, Rotella's "Takeoffs" have become famous around the world and are featured in exhibitions from Dijon to Seoul. The transformation of the original poster into a new message is typical of his works. Mimmo Rotella has received several awards, including the 1992 award from French Minister of Culture Jack Lang. Still active, he died in Milan on January 8, 2006, aged 88. In 1994, Swatch launched the special edition in collaboration with Rotella, containing two limited edition Swatch watches representing two of his most famous Takeoff works: « Marilyn, Il mito di un'epoca » and « La Tigre ». The collection, sold in its original box, includes: - Watch, Walking stick GZ132, AG 1993; - Watch, watch Marilyn GZ133, AG 1993; - Mimmo Rotella puzzles: the empty spaces left by the clocks, once removed, can be filled by two clock-shaped puzzle pieces; - multilingual guarantee on the poster; on the back, the artist's biography. They are two very rare models, almost impossible to find, new and never used, sold in their complete Special Edition collection. Get them now! Box size: 30 x 22 x 3 cm.
