Noble privileges and law: De successione filiorum, comitum & baronum - 1576 Large portrait of Minadoi, from Salerno, "Visse 50 anni, Morì nel 1555". Posing as a scholar with the book in his hands. A beautiful full-page figure of Medieval flavour. Illuminated title on the spine. Cover page: crowned rampant lion leaning on a column. Within an illustrated frame, motto: Iustus quasi leo confidens “If the fury of the abyss in the guise of unclean beasts will be importunate to your detriment, the servant of God as generous Lion will make them disbanded and stunned" (Pulp Fiction?) Bound in coeval full soft parchment. A very nice copy on fresh and crisp paper with wide margins and a firm binding. Pages with wide margins, widespread foxing. Giovanni Tommaso Minadois (Naples, 1505 - 12 November 1555) was a Neapolitan jurist. From 1524 he taught at the Studio di Napol, at least until 1533. From 1534 he was a member of the Sacro Regio Consiglio di Napoli on the appointment of Emperor Charles V. Privilege du Roy on the 5th page, in French, dedicated to "Henry, par la grace de Dieu, Roy de France. . . etc. " Full title: Clarissimi viri Io. Thomae Minadoi patricii Neapolitani, Carolo V caesari, ac diuo Philippo regi in regno Neapolitano a consiliis, repetitionis regni constitutionis in aliquibus. De successione filiorum, comitum & baronum, consiliorum & decisionum sacri consilij commentaria. Accessit clarissimi viri Bartholomei Camerarii Repetitio c. primi. An agnatus, in vsibus feudorum.
