Ming Dynasty Fine Cast Copper Body Gilded Five Oxen Bowl-shaped Furnace[Specifications] Height 17.7cm Diameter 26cm Belly Diameter 28.4cm Weight 11.95kg[Inscription] Made in the Qianlong Period of the Qing Dynasty[Details]The furnace is in the shape of a bowl, with a constricted mouth, a circle of exquisite lotus petals, sloping shoulders, curved belly, and flat bottom ring foot. The base of this furnace is a pot-shaped tooth-supporting mud style, which matches the furnace body well, making the whole vessel more elegant and upright. The belly of the vessel is exquisitely carved with a high relief of five oxen, with five oxen lined up from left to right, each with its own appearance and posture. One is scratching its itch on a bramble, looking relaxed; one is strong, with its head raised and tail wagging, and its steps steady; one is bony, standing upright and singing, with a white beak and white eyebrows, and looks old; one is tall, with sharp horns, looking back; one stands with its head lowered, with a sturdy body, concentrating as if thinking about something, and its eyes reveal a stubborn personality. The whole piece is made of pure copper, and it feels heavy in the hand. It is all wax tea-colored, with a soft and smooth patina, and is partially gilded, rich and lustrous, making it a good piece for display in a study room.
