It is very rare to find any of these pottery figures with this original pigment and rider holding hunting Owl! ! ! Outstanding pottery "mingqi" representing a Mounted Hunter with Falcon. Red earthenware coated with white slip and remains of green, dark green, blue, black and red pigment. Early Tang Dynasty (618-907) Earthenware with original pigments! Height 42 cm. Excavated from the tomb in Qianxian, Shaanxi province. - Provenance: Very important and old private German collection, Mr. W. R. , Wiesbaden collected before 1995. The horse shown striding, the head well modelled with flared nostrils, open mouth as if the horse is neighing and expressive eyes below the picked years, with hogged mane and head turned slightly to the left, the saddle cloth with incised border and tiger motif (extremely rare) ! ! ! The rider seated firmly in his saddle holding Falcon with feet stretched forward in the stirrups. His face very detailed, much of the original pigment remaining. - The result of the thermoluminescence test, is consistent with the dating of the item, Tang dynasty (ca. 1250 years old) .
