Miniature 13th C. Indo-Persian Bronze Mirror

Central to South Asia, Iran to India, Indo-Persian, ca. 13th to 14th century CE. A cast bronze disc cast with a low relief on one face, symmetric floral motifs around tear drop shape, and the verso is smooth and flat - at one time the surface was polished to be a reflective for use as a mirror. The petite size was ideal for travel and carrying in a pocket, and besides use for looking at one's self, mirrors were talismans and used in divination and other magical practices. Size: 2.2" Diameter (5.6 cm)

Condition Report: Nice green patina and oxidation to the flat verso. Softening and rubbing to motifs. Mineral and earthen deposits. Small chip, otherwise intact and very good.
