Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 4th century CE. A pair of miniature glass bottles - the flared rim and ribbed sides has a gorgeous pearlescent patina over the surface. These petite vessels were likely used for storing perfumes or scented oils, which were used daily in the household and probably buried with their owners. Size: 1.5" W x 2.25" H (3.8 cm x 5.7 cm)

Provenance: private Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA collection; ex-Minerva Gallery; ex-Benjamin Vega, California, USA, acquired in 2006 to 2007; ex-Gene and Virginia George, brought to the USA from 1961 to 1966

Condition Report: Narrow neck jar is repaired and restored. New material added to body and break lines across surface. Old loss and chip to rim on other jar. Mineral and earthen encrustations on both, and slightly heavier on exterior of the flared jar. Iridescence actively flaking when handled.
