Miniature Egyptian Glazed Faience Cat Pendant

Egypt, Late Dynastic to Ptolemaic Period, ca. 664 to 30 BCE. A miniature mold-made faience pendant charm of a feline with large, perked ears and lustrous blue-green glaze. The petite cat sits on its haunches atop an integral rectangular plinth, holds its upper body aloft with its forelegs, and faces to the right with a suspension perforation through the neck. Size: 0.62" L x 0.77" H (1.6 cm x 2 cm)

Provenance: private New York, New York, USA collection; ex-Nancy and Earl Keefer collection, acquired in the 1980s

Condition Report: Stable fissure and abrasion to front of snout and nick to rear leg base area and softening of finer facial details. Extremely light pitting in some areas, otherwise intact and very good. Blue-green glaze throughout.
