Miniature Roman Glass Pitcher - Gorgeous!

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to early 3rd century CE. An outstanding pitcher of a miniature size with a bulbous base, a piriform body with a gently corseted neck, a flared rim with a diminutive mouth, and an integral handle that arches from rim to lower body. The attractive vessel is composed of opaque blue and purple glass that exhibits fiery rainbow-hued iridescence engulfing every surface. Size: 0.25" W x 1.125" H (0.6 cm x 2.9 cm); 1.7" H (4.3 cm) on included custom stand.

Provenance: East Coast collection, New York Gallery, New York City, New York, USA, acquired before 2010
