Miniature painting, Table screen - Coral, Elephant ivory, Lacquer, Mother of pearl, Tortoiseshell, Wood - Refined - Shibayama - Naturalistic motifs - Manchurian crane in flight - Signed Tokkosai 得 孝 斎 - Japan - Meiji period (1868-1912) . Unusual and refined table divider made entirely from ivory with hiramaki-e lacquer decorations and shibayama inlay appliques in mother of pearl, tortoise shell and coral with naturalistic patterns depicting a Manchurian crane in flight. On the opposite side is an eagle and a Manchurian crane. Two stylised bakus (mythological animals) hold the Tama (a sacred Buddhist jewel) between their jaws on the sides of the panel and complete the work. Signed Tokosai in gold lacquer. In very good condition. The lot will be carefully packaged and shipped within 1 or at most 2 business days from the day of payment. The shipping cost includes delivery with UPS or DHL courier with full insurance and professional packaging. Original certificate compiled by Luca Mastromauro, an expert in Japanese art, registered with Milan Chamber of Commerce (number: 2617) , which will be sent with the lot. Copy of Certificate of Antiquity compliant with the international CITES regulations drawn up by the CE. S. AR Archaeometric Study Centre based in London, Milan and Rome, together with the item.
