Unusual and refined table screen, entirely in ivory with hiramaki-e lacquer decorations, and inlaid applications in the shibayama technique of mother of pearl, turtle and coral with naturalistic motifs with eagle and Manchurian crane fighting on one side and on the opposite side another Manchurian crane in flight. Two stylised baku with Tama (sacred Buddhist jewel) between the jaws on the sides of the panel to complete the work. Signed Tokosai in gold lacquer. In very good condition.
