Mixtec 500-900AD Polychrome Painted Rattle Bowl
A large Mixtec-Aztec tripod vessel from Mexico, ca. 500-900 AD. The elaborately decorated polychrome bowl is supported by hollow legs that contain rattles. It is painted both inside and outside with complex Mixtec designs, strong mineral deposits. Paint in very good condition for its age - measures approx. 6.5" x 4" Provenance: The Jules Berman collection of Mesoamerican artifacts - Owner El Capitan Ranch and Museum, Santa Barbara, Ca. - owner and importer of Kahlua Liquor circa 1972
