Nikka Yoichi/Miyagikyo - Collectors Box - Rum Wood Finish 2017 2 x 700ml 46% For the 70th birthday of the Italian bottler Velier in 2017, owner Luca Gargano, in cooperation with the Japanese whiskey house Nikka, launched two special bottlings with maturation in rum casks. The Velier house is particularly known for its Caroni rum bottlings, and so Gargano personally selected the rum barrels in which the two special bottlings from Nikka were stored for 1 year. Only 3,500 bottles were filled by Yoichi and Miyagikyo each. The stylish set in a high-quality collector's box was the first edition of both editions with 500 copies. The Yoichi is wonderfully exotic with smoke, caramel notes and notes of orange, chocolate and oak. The Miyagikyo is very beguiling with a lot of fruit and is elegantly ensnared by the sweet rum aromas of the barrel.
