Molly J. Schiff (1927–2018), Seated Male Nude (Figure Study)

Watercolor and ink figure study on paper depicting a seated male nude in a relaxed, contemplative pose. The figure is outlined with confident black line and softly modeled with washes of pink, violet, blue, and warm ochre tones. The loose, expressive handling emphasizes mood and form rather than strict anatomical precision, characteristic of mid 20th-century modern figurative drawing. The composition balances negative space with layered color fields, reflecting the artist’s exploratory approach to the human figure. Dimensions: 30 x 22 in.
