The clip represents the patented press used to shape the edges of the piano. The inscription 'Steinway & Sons', found on the keyboard of all Steinway pianos, is engraved on the tip ring of the Limited Edition writing instruments, which also feature an engraved portrait of Henry E. Steinway on the 750 gold nib.

It comes from a collector who has decided to get rid of some of his most valued pieces, barely used on a special signing occasion.
