Monumental Henri II Walnut Buffet A Deaux Corps

Late 19th century, Continental; walnut case in two parts; in the renaissance taste; foliate carved broken pediment with a central cartouche; the central section having a pierced arched foliate carved glazed door; flanked by an open displayspaces with a single door below, with turned supports supporting a curved hood with urns; the lower central section having an arched door framed by caryatids and foliate carved brackets; the interior fitted with shelves; backboards havingpierced galley plate racks; with a single drawer and door below; on a stepped plinth and rising on bun feet. The whole with overall elaborate scrolled foliate caving; the doors with punch and gouge carving. Approx. h. 113.375", w. 70.5", d.22".
