Condition A.

During the Empire era, the 'Surtout de table' became an important decorative element of festive table setting and an expression of the highest form of dining culture.
It served as a showpiece with fruit- and flower bowls but also as a conversation piece due to its figurative design. In the case of the centrepiece presented here, the two dynamic groups of nymphs accompanied by laughing children are designed to put the guest into the cheerful and festive mood of a grand dinner. This spectacular centrepiece is a masterpiece of silversmithing, a highly decorative focal point of a dinner and the eye-catcher of any splendid interior design.
