Morris Katz, 1932 - 2010 (born Moshe Katz, Galicia, Poland now Ukraine) was a Jewish-American painter. At age 13 he studied under Dr. Hans Fokler of the Munich Academy. During the Holocaust, Morris suffered through concentration camps losing most of his family. After the war, in a displaced persons camp, he earned a diploma in carpentry. Katz arrived the United States in 1949, and became a professional carpenter, while continuing developing as an artist. Over his career, he established himself as a painter, comedian and television personality entertaining generations of guests in the old Borscht Belt.
