There was no longer any hope of salvation, and people hearts fluttered like leaves on a strong wind. However, the prophet urges the king to appeal to the lord and ask for protection, and ask the lord to give a sign that will be fulfilled. The king refused. The prophet says “The lord shall give you a sign: behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel”.
