Mottahedeh Large Bird Tureen with Stand
An earthenware tureen and underplate from Mottahedeh. This piece is a replica of an 18th Century French creamware design, the original of which is found in the Louvre’s Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. The all white design boasts and intricate applied design to the lid with a bird perched atop a flowering vine. The tureen, lid and underplate all display a raised floral design and the tureen has two side handles. The underside is marked “Mottahedeh” with “Made in Italy” and retailers labels. There is also a mark from the Museum of Decorative Arts, Paris.
