"Mountain Landscape", attributed to Werner Peiner (Düsseldorf 1897–1984 Leichlingen)
Brush and brown and black ink wash on paper. Bears signature lower left, "PEINER". A mountain landscape with receding, partly wooded ranges and jagged ridges beneath a clouded sky, tall deciduous trees to the right, and meadow and cultivated strips with a track in the foreground. The sheet is hinged to the card mount with adhesive tape along the upper edge; the tape is discoloured, with browning to the adjacent paper. Sheet 44 × 58 cm, frame 65.5 × 79.0 cm. Peiner settled at Kronenburg in the Eifel in 1931; landscape dominates his late work.
