Alfonsi Aragonum Regis Vafredicta Proverbia Sigismundi & Friderici tertii Ro[manorum] Imp[er]ator[is], collation: A8 B4 C-D6 E-G8 H-K6 L8 M6 N-O4 P-Q6, occasional light marginal browning or faint damp-staining, title with light surface soiling and bookplate laid down on lower half, G2 with neat marginal repair, a few ff. closely shaved at head, affecting headlines, bookplates to endpapers and pastedown, 19th century calf, Stirling-Maxwell copy with his devices to boards in blind, upper cover detached, lower cover becoming loose, extremities rubbed, 8vo (180 x 130mm), [Strasbourg], Johann Grüninger, [1509].
⁂ Rare collection of anecdotes, witticisms and facetiae of famous men, compiled by this early sixteenth century doctor, translator, and chronicler. We can only trace 2 copies at auction in the last 35 years.
