Multi-Strand Egyptian Faience Bead Necklace - Wearable!

Ancient Egypt, Third Intermediate to Late Dynastic Period, 21st to 31st Dynasty, ca. 1070 to 332 BCE. A beautiful necklace of a wearable form composed of dozens of slender, tubular faience beads covered in lustrous glaze. The singular strands that rest behind the neck taper down to modern fluted silver spacer caps, and beneath the strand splits into six even strands of narrow beads. Strung in modern times and capped with a silver-plated loop and lobster clasp combo, this is a wonderful necklace that is ready to accentuate any ensemble! Size (necklace): 18.625" L (47.3 cm); (largest bead): 0.3" W x 0.1" H (0.8 cm x 0.3 cm)

Provenance: private Dunn collection, Coral Springs, Florida, USA, acquired in the 1990s

Condition Report: Strung in modern times and wearable as shown. Faience beads are ancient, and stringing, fluted silver spacer caps, and silver-plated components are modern. Minor nicks and abrasions as well as fading to original glaze pigment on some beads, otherwise intact and very good. Smooth patina and nice traces of original glaze pigment throughout.
