Muonionalusta Meteorite Iron, IVA Northern Sweden - (67° 48'N, 23° 6'E) Found: 1906 The Muonionalusta is considered one of the oldest meteorites, and top examples come in a variety of forms including cubes, slices and, even, jewelry, but the purest and most interesting kind might be the type represented here: a crystalized meteorite. The mass of this "arctic Iron" displays geometric forms and striations over the vast majority of the surface of this example weighing 1,673 grams. This piece is virtually fully crystallized, unlike other samples that only have a section with such patterning. This rock exhibits intense layers of silver metallic forms punctuated by a reddish-brown patina. A raised point of crystallization with a nearly tetrahedral shape sticks out prominently from this meteorite from Sweden. Overall Measurements: 3.70 x 3.16 x 2.70 inches (9.40 x 8.02 x 6.85 cm), weighs 1,673 grams [Scale: 1 inch, with mark at 1 cm]
