Murano - Afro Celotto - Vase - Glass

[ translate ]

Maestro Afro Celotto was born in Venice, Burano Island, on 24 August 1963.
Much quieter and less crowded than the other islands of Venice, Burano has houses painted in bright colors by fishermen, so they can spot their homes from the sea.
In his childhood, surrounded by colors, Afro developed a unique sensitivity combined with his innate artistic sense.
He began working with glass when he was only 14 years old, as an apprentice to the legendary Lino Tagliapietra.
In these early years Afro produced some of the finest art glass products in the world, becoming recognized by collectors for its technical skill and artistic expression.
After many years at "Effetre International", Afro refined the "Murrina" technique, specializing in two of the oldest techniques: filigree and murrine.
Four years later, Afro returned to “Effetre International” after being asked to replace Lino Tagliapietra, who had moved to the United States to open his own studio.
In 2000, Afro opened his own studio where he began creating brand new works of art while honing his own style.
Around 2004 his artworks, the result of a combination of classical and modern techniques of colorful shapes, became famous and sought after by collectors and galleries around the world.
He also collaborated with the great Pino Signoretto, famous master of "heavy glass" sculptures, member of the "Team Dale Chihuly".
In 2009, he tries to find new shapes and colors, raising his production to a better level.
Hand signed underneath, certification with photo of Afro with vase in hand.
