Murano - Andrea Tagliapietra - Sculpture, Seppia - 23 cm - Glass, Silver leaf, Gold leaf

[ translate ]

A masterpiece of glass art created in the early 2000s by the famous master glassmaker Andrea Tagliapietra.

The interior of the glass is enriched with precious inclusions of gold, aventurine and silver leaf, while the external surface has an iridescent finish. The sculpture is immersed inside a crystal glass casting.

It should be noted that the cuttlefish is a native animal of the Venetian lagoon and is a precious subject (and delicious dish) for the masters of the glass island.

This authentic artistic marvel is destined to enrich any collection. The legacy of the ancient Venetian glassmaking tradition, transmitted uninterruptedly from generation to generation, brings with it the magic of centuries of research.

Biography
Andrea Tagliapietra was born in Murano in the 1950s and began working with glass at the age of 14 following in the footsteps of his father Erminio, at that time one of the most talented glass masters of Salviati & Co.
In his youth, he began working as an apprentice and then as an assistant until he became a master glassmaker in 1979. However, he wanted more: in 1980, he began to create works that, over the years, became popular and successful thanks to the particular expressiveness and style, formal and chromatic balance, which were in no way inferior to those of the great artists of the 20th century.
Today he is considered one of the specialists in the Massello technique and in Chalcedony. An internationally renowned artist, some of his creations are exhibited in private collections in Palm Beach, New York, Chicago and Tokyo.
