(Museology) 2 Vols. (Strixner, Johann, et al). Die Sammlung Alt-Nieder und Ober Deutscher Gemaelde…. Stuttgart [and Munich], 1821[-1835]. Folio, later brown cloth; exterior generally soiled and scuffed and shelf-worn, with front cover and spine strip to Volume I conjoined but separated at hinge. Window-mounted index to Volume I in German, calling for 114 plates in 38 "Lieferungen"; second (incomplete?) tipped-in index in French at conclusion to Volume II. With 127 plates in total: 114 tinted litho plates, mounted, sheets with ink-ruled borders (as called-for in index to Volume I (and concluding with "Die drei Koenige…"); 3 full-page copper-plate engravings; and 10 additional lithographic plates at conclusion to Volume II. Some plates lack any date of printing, as seen in other copies; plates generally bright but sheets verso may show offsetting, foxing, browning, and spotting. An ex-library copy SWAF: all sheets evidence library perforations, though very seldom corrupting mounted plates; title page to Volume I significantly foxed, crudely repaired with archival tape, and with library perforated stamp (as shown in catalog); some open tears to sheets, some sheets with archival tape repairs verso (though not affecting plates); and brittleness to edges throughout. n.b. most OCLC holdings attest to varying plate counts, with OCLC 1008481409 most akin to this example.
