Musha Ningyo doll - Wood - Minamoto no Yoshitsune (源 義 経) - Japan - ca. 1850 Part of the traditional Gogatsu-ningyō display during Young Wednesday (Tango-no-Sekku) . Height of the doll: 39 cm, 24 cm wide, 20 cm deep. Coffin size approx. : 28 cm high, 47 cm long and 29 cm deep. Good condition, the doll has age traces, paint from the helmet is peeling off, very nice specimen, see photos. In the lid it is written: "Hirose shi" (Hirose family) During the Genpei war between the Minamoto (under Yoritomo) and the Taira (under Taira no Kiyomori) , Yoshitsune was the most important general. In 1184 he recorded a major victory in the battle of Ichinotani, and in 1185 the Taira clan was defeated after Yoshitsune's victory in the Battle of Dan-no-ura. Lot is carefully packed and sent by registered mail.
