(N) DANISH MADSEN M-50 MACHINE GUN WITH PROVENANCE OF TRANSFER TO MGM (METRO-GOLDWYN-MAYER) STUDIOS

In addition to having provenance that this Madsen M50 was transferred to MGM studios in May of 1970, this lot also includes desirable accessories and parts for the recreational shooter. Notably a 71 round Suomi 9mm drum magazine retrofitted to work in this model, and original spent brass chute and bag. Nice professional job of merging an original box magazine upper onto a Suomi drum. Other included accessories include 1 original magazine, 2 spare barrels with retention nuts, 2 spare bolts, 2 mainsprings with guides, and 2 magazine loaders. Also noteworthy is a short Madsen barrel threaded for a silencer. The consignor is obviously an innovative and thoughtful NFA enthusiast. The Madsen was designed to be an inexpensive sheet metal receiver machine gun to produce, it is a nice light compact and effective machine gun. It ended up being utilized by police and military in many countries, and, of course, found its way into numerous Hollywood film productions. This cataloger found himself recounting several, including Star Trek (Bread and Circuses). It incorporates an interesting grip safety to the rear of the magazine well, which much be depressed in order for the bolt to fully release forward to fire the weapon.
