The Austen MK I machine gun is an Australian design that combines features of the German MP-40 with the British Sten gun. They were originally manufactured by two different firms, W.T. Carmichael & Sons Ltd, and Die Casting Ltd. The Australians took the Sten design provided to them by the British and incorporated the folding stock, enclosed telescoping mainspring, and the grip profile of the German MP-40. Even the grip panels closely resemble those of the MP-40. They also incorporated a vertical pistol grip. The Austen (Australian Sten) machine gun is a very comfortable select-fire machine gun to shoot. This lot includes one 28-round original Austen magazine, both gun and magazine offered here were originally manufactured by Die Casting Ltd.; however, this gun was remanufactured and registered by an American machine gun manufacturer and hence the Electronic NFA registry indicates “FORM 2 REGISTRATION” as the manufacturer. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is extremely fine blue refinish over light pitting on steel parts. Magazine does not have pitting. Magazine housing extremely fine dull painted finish. Mechanics are crisp. Bore has seen a lot of use, and it lightly pitted, turning dark. Bolt face is extremely fine to near excellent. This is a select fire machine gun. Quite a scarce gun to find as fully transferable as not many made it back to the United States. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4. JWK 2024-05-037. Barrel Length: 8" Caliber/Bore: 9mm FFL Status: NFA Manufacturer: Form 2 Registration Model: Austen MK I Serial Number: 6753
