(N) HIGH CONDITION MARLIN ROCKWELL MODEL 1918 BROWNING

Beautiful Marlin Rockwell World War I model 1918 Browning Automatic Rifle originally manufactured in February 1919 as indicated by the barrel date. This specimen escaped retrofit during World War II and still retains its original “straight can” type flash hider. First variation gas regulator and checkered forend are the other early features on this gun. Markings include flaming bomb proofs with “2-19” on the top of the barrel near the receiver with typical "F A S" selector markings. Typical Marlin-Rockwell receiver markings at top of receiver with serial number. No magazine present. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is extremely fine to near excellent smooth original finish exclusive of the barrel with some thinning at the high edges with a bit of light pitting at the right side of the receiver forward and below of the ejector port with somewhat more loss of finish to the flash hider and gas regulator. Barrel markings have been intentionally slightly blemished in the past (probably somebody did not want obvious military markings on their gun) and barrel has a duller touched up, yet still attractive blue. The wood and composite furnishings exhibit light but typical handling marks and dings. Mechanics are fine. Bore has strong rifling but turning dark on both lands and in grooves. Bolt face is extremely fine. This is a select fire machine gun. A very fine looking specimen from the World War I era and no doubt will bring great pleasure to a discerning collector of classic machine guns!
