(N) ITALIAN WORLD WAR II BERETTA MODEL 38A MACHINE GUN WITH ACCESSORIES (CURIO & RELIC).

[ translate ]

The Beretta 38A saw service with the German as well as the Italian military during World War II. MP-40 production had ceased in 1944 in favor of the Sturmgewehr. When the Germans realized they still had a need and use for a pistol caliber machine gun, they absorbed existing Beretta 38A and 38/42 machine guns into their service as well as purchasing more newly assembled guns from Beretta. It is not uncommon for these guns to be devoid of manufacturer's markings, as Beretta used the opportunity to assemble whatever parts they had leftover on hand into guns to sell to the Germans. This specimen has the Italian Royal Army "(Crown)/ RE" acceptance proof present on the left side of the barrel shroud collar. Visible numbers match on the receiver, barrel shroud, and buttstock. 3 olive drab 3-cell magazine pouches containing 3 magazines each, 1 spare barrel and barrel shroud, spare solid wood buttstock, a cleaning rod, a bag of spare small internal parts, and a rare original gray canvas sleeve for the 38A are included with this lot. NFA registry lists "ITALIAN BERETTA 9-MM" in the manufacturer block and "MP 38-42" in the model block. The model designation can be corrected upon paper transfer. CONDITION: Near excellent attractive lusterous blue refinish with markings showing very clearly. Were is not for a slight plumb color on the hardened metal piece forward of the cocking handle, one might mistake this as original finish. Wood has some scattered handling marks and remains un-sanded with clear cartouche. Mechanics are crisp. Bore is extremely fine, shiny and bright with some light frosting. This cataloger can attest that the Beretta 38A is one of the most comfortable and fun to shoot machine guns of WW2. Comfortable, controllable, and select fire on demand depending upon which trigger you choose. This offering, with numerous magazines and accessories, coupled with the attractive appearance it presents, is one of the best ensembles we have ever offered of this model. Someone is going to be very fortunate to win this lot. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS CURIO AND RELIC ELIGIBLE. JWK 2023-12-06 Accessories: Spare stock, cleaning rod, box of spare parts and magazines Barrel Length: 14" Caliber/Bore: 9x19mm Parabellum FFL Status: NFA Manufacturer: Beretta Model: 38A Serial Number: K8367
