This is a very seldom encountered Chinese Type 50 machine gun manufacture by “Arsenal 626” in 1952, making this piece almost certainly a veteran of the Korean War. The Chinese Type 50 is a very nearly exact copy of the Soviet Russian PPSh-41 machine gun, and parts, including the magazines, are interchangeable between the two. Sometimes the Chinese even went so far as to copy the Russian markings, but this is not the case here. This gun has wonderfully clear Chinese markings on the top of the shroud, forward of the trunnion. However, this gun was mistakenly originally registered as manufactured by “Russia”. Correction to “China” can be requested upon the next transfer if so desired. Bolt and lower assembly serial numbers match the receiver number. One 30-round Russian curved stick magazine is included with this lot. Desirable original amnesty registration paperwork is also included with this lot. This gun was amnesty registered as a deactivated gun, and has been legally reactivated to be a “live” gun by “U.S. Armament Corp, Ephrata, PA”, and is so marked on the left side of the receiver below the rear sight. Electronic NFA registry indicates “RUSSIAN FEDERATION” as the manufacturer. This can be requested for correction upon transfer. PROVENANCE: Original Amnesty Registration paperwork. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is fine to extremely fine original finish with touch-up blue applied in places over light pitting mostly on the top and sides of the receiver, with much of the metal parts turning a pleasing brown patina. Wood stock is of high quality, better than this cataloger has ever seen on any Russian PpSh gun, and if asked how to tell a Chinese gun from a Russian made PpSh, this cataloger would say, “The Chinese guns are better made and finished”. Chrome lined bore is near excellent, shiny and bright. Bolt face is extremely fine. Mechanics are crisp. This is a select fire machine gun. Very few of these Chinese Type 50 machine guns surface for public sale. This specimen is a particularly fine and desirable one, considering the markings, condition, and provenance with original amnesty registration form included. They don’t get much better than this. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS CURIO & RELIC ELIGIBLE. JWK 2024-05-009 Accessories: 1 magazine total Barrel Length: 10.63" Caliber/Bore: 7.62mm FFL Status: NFA Manufacturer: Russia Model: PPSH41 Paperwork: Amnesty Registration Form Serial Number: 83833
