(N) VETERAN ALL ORIGINAL GERMAN WWII MG-42 MACHINE GUN WITH REMNANTS OF ORIGINAL WHITE PAINT

[ translate ]

This is an utterly fabulous find! An all-original Maget (cra) manufactured MG-42 machine gun marked “N.C.” (1944 mfg) with remnants of the original wartime applied camouflage paint remaining on various parts. One can discern white brushed on paint on the upper part and recessed areas of the handgrip, receiver, ejection port cover, and in the recessed areas of the buttstock, feed tray, shroud, bipod, as well as other areas. It is well-documented that German forces engaged in the Battle of the Bulge in December 1944 applied white “snow” camouflage paint to their equipment, including firearms. Light brown camouflage was also used. Original WWII bolt is mis-matched. Barrel is unnumbered original “cra” marked and has a silver/white paint on the extension, as does the inside of the “bpr” marked top cover and its components. Buttstock clearly marked “hvg” over “44”. Anti-aircraft flip-up post present at rear sight. Original sling included as found with gun. Desirable original amnesty registration paperwork, actually two registration forms are also included with this lot. This gun was amnesty registered as a deactivated gun, and has been legally reactivated to be a “live” gun by “U.S. Armament Corp, Ephrata, PA”, and is so marked on the underside of the receiver left of the ejection port. Electronic NFA registry indicates “GERMANY” as the manufacturer. PROVENANCE: Original Amnesty Registration paperwork. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is fine to original finish with vintage added paint as noted with blued finish otherwise thinning and turning either gray or brown patina. Buttstock does not have retrofitted reinforcement wire, and has a horizontal crack running the left side with other grain checks in evidence. Nice clear cartouche and never sanded nor messed with, happily. Nice reddish tinted grip panels are extremely fine and very attractive. Bore is extremely fine, shiny and bright. Bolt face is extremely fine. Mechanics are crisp. This is a full-auto-only machine gun. What an utterly unique and marvelous opportunity to acquire an all-original WWII MG-42 with vintage camouflage paint and original amnesty paperwork as well. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS CURIO AND RELIC ELIGIBLE. JWK 2024-05-010. Barrel Length: 24" Caliber/Bore: 8mm FFL Status: NFA Manufacturer: Germany Model: MG42 Paperwork: Amnesty Registration Form Serial Number: 1926i
