(N) WEST HURLEY THOMPSON SEMI-AUTOMATIC CARBINE WITH

Semi-automatic Thompson carbine as manufactured by Auto Ordnance Corporation in West Hurley New York in 1977. Classic Cutts compensator with Thompson bullet logo on top of compensator, with logo also forward of rear sight. Typical right side receiver markings, with left clearly marked “SEMI-AUTOMATIC”. Buttstock is from "M1" model of gun with sling swivel. This is a National Firearms Act item registered as a Short Barreled Rifle and requires BATF approval prior to transfer. At first glance, this gun could be mistaken for a machine gun. The knurled cocking knob and longer barrel are the only apparent external indicators. Accessories include one West Hurley marked contemporary drum, original 16-1/2" barrel without compensator, one 20 round “WPS” marked magazine, Three 30 round “Seymore” magazines, original 1921A1 owner’s manual, 1927A1 takedown guide, brass cleaning rod, and reproduction “Dillinger” hard case specifically made for this model with original paperwork. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish extremely fine with nearly all of its lustrous blue finish on metal parts. Some slight high edge wear and brown patina on left side high edge of receiver. Vertical foregrip and pistol grip also extremely fine with the slightest of handling marks. Buttstock exhibits a few light handling marks and is a somewhat lighter color. Very attractive. Drum has significant deep pitting at lower back and functionality is not guaranteed. Plan on getting a stick mag or having this drum tuned up. Mechanics are fine on this gun which fires from a closed bolt. Bore is extremely fine, shiny and bright. The Thompson in this configuration with its compensator is in its iconic classic American profile. For those of you who love the Thompson but live in a State which does not allow machine guns, but does allow Short Barreled Rifles, here is your opportunity to acquire an iconic American firearm whose profile is recognized worldwide. This ensemble is a time capsule from the late 1970’s. 10 round drums are commercially available if your State limits magazine capacity.
